The short version:
- All AR and video processing happens locally on your device, in real time.
- We do not record, upload, or store your face, biometric data, or personal media on any server.
- Videos are saved or shared only when you actively choose to, and only to your own device or the apps you pick.
- Our advertising and analytics partners (Unity LevelPlay, Google Firebase) collect device identifiers and usage data — and you can opt out.
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy describes how Sighthole ("Sighthole", "we", "us", or "our") handles information when you use our mobile augmented reality application (the "App"). It also explains the choices and rights available to you. By downloading or using the App, you acknowledge the practices described in this policy.
If you have any questions, contact us at info@sighthole.com.
2. Device Permissions We Request
2.1 Camera
The App requests camera access strictly for its core augmented reality functionality: performing spatial tracking of your surroundings and overlaying 3D characters and meme filters onto your real-world environment in real time. Camera frames are processed on your device as they are captured and are immediately discarded. The camera feed is never recorded, transmitted, or stored by Sighthole.
2.2 Microphone
The App requests microphone access strictly to record ambient audio and meme sound interactions during live video recordings that you initiate through the App's camera recording feature. The microphone is not active outside of an active recording session, and captured audio exists only inside the video file created on your device.
3. On-Device Processing — Our Core Rule
All AR rendering, face/scene tracking, and video processing performed by the App happens locally on your device, in real time. Specifically:
- We do not collect, record, upload, or store any face biometric data (such as faceprints, facial geometry templates, or facial recognition identifiers). Any face or scene tracking used to position AR effects runs transiently in device memory and is never persisted or transmitted.
- We do not upload or store your personal media files (photos, videos, audio) on remote servers. Sighthole operates no server that receives your camera or microphone content.
- Videos you create are saved to your device, or shared to other apps, only by your active choice. Once you share a video to a third-party platform, that platform's own privacy policy applies.
4. Advertising, Mediation & Analytics SDKs
The App is free to use. To keep it free — including keeping premium tiers accessible at no cost — we show advertisements and use analytics tools provided by third-party partners:
4.1 Unity LevelPlay (ironSource) — Advertising Mediation
We use Unity LevelPlay (ironSource) as our ad mediation platform to deliver Interstitial and Rewarded Video advertisements from participating ad networks.
4.2 Firebase Analytics & Firebase Crashlytics — Performance and Diagnostics
We integrate Google Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics to monitor app performance, detect and diagnose crashes, and understand basic user flow events (for example, which screens are opened or which features are used).
4.3 What these partners collect automatically
These third-party platforms automatically collect certain data from your device, including:
- Persistent device identifiers — the Apple Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA) on iOS and the Google Advertising ID (GAID) on Android, subject to your consent and system settings;
- IP address — used for rough (city-level) geolocation and fraud prevention;
- Device and app information — device model, operating system version, language, and app version;
- Ad interaction logs — impressions, clicks, and rewarded-video completion events;
- Crash and diagnostic data — stack traces and device state at the time of a crash (Crashlytics).
Sighthole does not control these partners' processing. Please review their privacy documentation:
- Unity / ironSource (LevelPlay): unity.com/legal/privacy-policy
- Google (Firebase): policies.google.com/privacy and firebase.google.com/support/privacy
5. Apple App Store — Tracking Transparency (iOS)
On iOS, the App uses Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework. Before any tracking occurs, you will see the standard ATT prompt asking whether the App may track your activity across other companies' apps and websites.
- If you allow tracking, your IDFA is shared with our advertising partners so ads can be personalized. Personalized ads generate the revenue that keeps the App's premium tiers free.
- If you deny tracking, the App remains fully functional. You will still see ads, but they will be contextual (non-personalized) and the IDFA will not be used.
- You can change your choice at any time in Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking.
6. Google Play — Data Safety Alignment (Android)
Our Google Play Data Safety declaration reflects the following practices:
| Data type | Collected? | Purpose | Shared with |
|---|---|---|---|
| Device & other IDs (GAID) | Yes | Advertising delivery, frequency capping, fraud prevention | Unity LevelPlay (ironSource) and mediated ad networks |
| Diagnostics (crash logs) | Yes | App stability, detecting and fixing crashes | Google Firebase Crashlytics |
| Analytics (app interactions) | Yes | Understanding feature usage and user flow | Google Firebase Analytics |
| Photos, videos, audio | No — processed on-device only | AR functionality; saved locally by your choice | No one |
| Biometric data (face) | No — never collected or stored | — | No one |
Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS). You can reset or delete your Advertising ID at any time via Android Settings > Privacy > Ads.
7. Your Rights — EEA, UK & Switzerland (GDPR)
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we process personal data under the following legal bases: consent (personalized advertising, collected through our in-app consent management platform (CMP) in line with IAB TCF standards) and legitimate interests (crash diagnostics, security, and fraud prevention).
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data held about you;
- Rectify inaccurate data;
- Erase your data ("right to be forgotten");
- Restrict or object to processing, including profiling for advertising;
- Data portability;
- Withdraw consent at any time — via the in-app privacy settings / CMP consent screen — without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.
To exercise any of these rights, use the in-app privacy settings or email info@sighthole.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority.
8. California Privacy Rights (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what categories of personal information we and our partners collect (identifiers such as device IDs and IP address; internet activity such as ad interactions and app usage events), the right to delete, the right to correct, and the right to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information — which, under California law, can include sharing device identifiers with advertising partners for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information: you can opt out by (a) denying the App Tracking Transparency prompt on iOS, (b) enabling "Delete advertising ID" or ad personalization opt-outs in Android settings, (c) using the App's in-app privacy/consent settings, or (d) emailing info@sighthole.com with the subject "Do Not Sell My Info". We honor applicable Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals where technically feasible. We will never discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights.
9. Children's Privacy (COPPA)
The App is not intended for children under 13 years of age, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. In accordance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), if we learn that personal information from a child under 13 has been collected, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a child under 13 has provided data through the App, contact us at info@sighthole.com.
10. Data Retention
Sighthole itself retains no personal media and no biometric data — there is nothing to retain, because processing is on-device. Data collected by our SDK partners (device identifiers, analytics events, crash logs) is retained according to their published retention policies; Firebase Analytics data, for example, is subject to configurable retention limits, and we use the shortest practical settings.
11. Security
All network communication initiated by the App and its SDKs uses industry-standard encryption (HTTPS/TLS). Because your media never leaves your device through the App, the most sensitive data — your camera and microphone content — is protected by your device's own storage security.
12. International Data Transfers
Our advertising and analytics partners may process data on servers located outside your country, including in the United States. Where required, these transfers rely on appropriate safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent mechanisms maintained by the partners.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date at the top of this page, and, where appropriate, communicated through the App. Continued use of the App after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
